Have you seen our billboard?
Prescription drug abuse is at large in the United States and in our community. How can our community combat the alarming rates of misuse with these dangerous drugs? Drop off your unused prescription drugs at the police department, lock them up, count your pills, be safe and take the initiative to educate your children that taking someone else's prescriptions is not only an unhealthy choice, but also an illegal choise with deadly consequences. "On October 22, 2001, at 8:30 in the morning, I received a call from the ER that my son was there. All the way, I prayed that he would be ok, but that was not to be. He died at 8:43am from alcohol poisoning and drug abuse (prescription drugs). Before he died, he took an 'OxyContin,' that his friend gave him because he had so much to drink that he was having chest pains. He was a musician and they were all taking this 'OxyContin' because it made them 'feel' good. They thought it cured everything. Shawn was 26 years old, and if he had survived, he would tell you what a stupid thing it is to take 'prescription drugs' that belong to someone else, especially when drinking. I hope that his testimony will help someone else realize that it is VERY dangerous!!"
